From a genetic point of view the maternal lines are very interesting. According to a theory of biologistst 95 per cent of all Europeans can be traced back to seven women. Here they use the mitochondrial DNA as a tracer and this DNA can be transferred from mothers only.
In fact the knowledge about the mother is alwys sure - but nobody knows who the father of the child really was.... Here ist the maternal line of my family which ends with my mother because neither me nor my brother are female.
